Shubh Muhurat · iOS & Android

Privacy policy

Effective date:

This policy explains how Shubh Muhurat (also called Muhurat) handles information. For privacy questions, contact support@kothari.store.

No signup. No advertising. No analytics.

Muhurat is free. It uses your device’s location to calculate Chogadiya on your device. The app does not send your location or app usage data to us, and we do not operate a server that collects data from the app.

Location and calculations

With your permission, Muhurat accesses your latitude and longitude through your device’s location services. It uses them to calculate local sunrise, sunset, and current and upcoming Chogadiya. Tithi is also calculated on your device.

On iOS, the app requests location access while in use. On Android, it requests approximate and precise location access and can use the permission you grant. The app does not request background location permission. Widgets use the saved location rather than requesting a new one themselves.

Device location services may use GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular networks, or services provided by your operating system. Those services can process information under their own settings and privacy policies; on-device calculations do not mean that your device’s location services never use a network.

Information saved on your device

Muhurat saves the latest latitude, longitude, and location-update time so its home-screen widgets can calculate and display the current period. On iOS, this is stored in a shared container for the app and its widget. On Android, it is stored in the app’s private preferences. The app also saves whether you have seen its widget introduction.

Each new location replaces the previous saved location; the app does not keep a location history. Widgets stop using a location more than seven days old and ask you to open the app. This seven-day limit does not delete the saved coordinates.

Sharing, backups, and diagnostics

We do not sell or share your app data. Muhurat has no advertising, analytics, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs, and does not upload location or usage information to a developer-operated service.

Your operating system may include local app data in device backups or transfers, depending on your settings. Android backup is enabled for Muhurat, so its saved preferences, including the latest coordinates, may be backed up or restored. Backup services and operating-system diagnostics are managed by your platform provider under its own policies and controls.

Your choices and deletion

There is no Muhurat account to delete, and we cannot access or erase the coordinates stored on your device remotely.
